Good Timin' - The Anthology |
● CD $22.98 |
Two CD set with 48 tracks. Jones entered the music world
through membership in various 50's vocal groups - the Savoys, the
Pretenders, the Jones Boys, and the Sparks of Rhythm - but didn't really
strike it rich until he recorded Handy Man in 1959 for the MGM
subsidiary Cub and climbed to #2 in the charts. This was followed a few
months later by another biggie Good Timin'. Although he never hit
it big again he continued to record pop flavored R&B featuring his
distinctive high tenor and had some minor success with two further Cub
releases That's When I Cried and I Told You So. Disc one
features his Cub recordings including a previously unissued stereo version
of Good Timin'. Disc two features his pre-Cub Epic recording of Whenever
You Need Me and You For Me To Love along with his post Cub
recordings in the 60s and early 70s plus a few from the 90s for Vee-Jay,
Roulette, Parkway, Bell and his own Jenjillus label.
