| VARIOUS | Greenhays 726 | Jean Ritchie - Field Trip | ● CD $15.98 |
| Reissue of 1954 album featuring Jean Ritchie performing
songs she learned from her family compared to versions she had recently
recorded during a Fulbright scholarship tour through Scotland, Ireland
and England. An interesting idea that is marred by the fact that Jean's
performances are so polite and folky compared to the powerful and earthy
performances of singers like Jimmy MacBeath, Seamus Ennis,
Elizabeth Cronin, Jeannie Robertson and others and is likely to give a
false impression of the power of American traditional song. |
