Cowgirlboy 5116 |
Love Songs Of The Hills |
● LP $13.98 $9.98 |
The recordings on this LP go back until the late 1940s and
were basically recorded at Jim Beck's Studio in Dallas, probably with
similar personnel as used for the Lefty Frizzell sessions back then. It's
genuine country music with plenty of fiddle and steel guitar accompaniment.
Riley's voice sounds like a blend of T Texas Tyler and Lefty Frizzell.

| LEN GRAHAM |
Advent 3603 |
Do Me Justice |
● LP $7.98 $7.98 |
Superb album by one of the finest singers in Ireland. Len is
a beautiful singer with a rich warm quality to his voice and a sure mastery
of ornamentation which he uses with great subtlety as well as being a
brilliant lilter as he demonstrates on several songs. He also has the knack
of finding some osbcure but very fine songs - this album is devoted to love
in its many forms. On about 2/3 of the tracks he is joined by Fintan McManus
who provied sensitive accompaniment on guitar and bouzouki. Limited stock at
a reduced price.

| GEORGE MORGAN |
Cowgirlboy 5035 |
Country Souveniers Of The 1950s |
● LP $13.98 $10.98 |
George was, in addition to being Lorrie Morgan's dad, one of
the first, along with Jim Reeves and Eddie Arnold, of the country crooners,
their hopes obviously pinned on crossover success. His smooth vocal delivery
appealed to those who didn't like the rawer stuff, and he had a very
successful run in the 50s. His biggest hits, Almost and Candy
Kisses, are included here in versions taken from from television
programs of the day, as is the remainder of the material here. The sound is
good and the backup musicians include such studio giants as Jerry Byrd, Roy
Wiggins, Dale Potter, and others. (RP)
